An Action-filled 1st Term

clock February 18, 2010 14:53 by author Johan Volsteedt

The new boys settled in well during the first weeks of 2010 and they ar eall involved in the many activities available at Grey.

The annual gala and athletics meetings were a splendid advertisement for the GREY WAY and subsequent cricket, athletics, water polo and swimming tours brought many accolades about the Grey Gentlemen's behaviour both on and off the sports fields. Grey's u18 Water Polo tournament and  Table Tennis Tournament showcased not only our boys' abilities, but also the professionalism of our organising committees!

Our thoughts and prayers are with one of our learners who matriculated in 2007, Thabo Ramanamane, who is in a serious condition in hospital after a car accident.

Geniet die res van die kwartaal!

2010!

clock January 21, 2010 15:17 by author Johan Volsteedt

2010!

2010 promises to be a great year for our country and we all look forward to the unifying force of the Soccer World Cup this year!

The unity amongn the Grey boys is a joy to behold and was clearly visible at the annual Grey Absa Gala and the Grey Absa Athletics meeting. The harmony among both staff and boys augurs well for the rest of the year and the excitement felt by all as we start the new year is a strong unifying force.

The new GREY CODE OF HONOUR that will be in use as from this year, reads as follows:

GREY GENTLEMEN DO NOT NEED RULES THEY LIVE THE GREY WAY OF VALUES:                 HULLE LEEF GREY SE WAARDESISTEEM:                  RESPECT(leef en laat leef)                                   TEAM(Grey in union)                                  MANNERS(Touch of class)                  MOED(Grey guts)                  INTEGRITEIT(Waarheid maak vry)                  VERDRAAGSAAMHEID(All for one and one for all)                  SELF-DISCIPLINE(Grey-gees)    GREY GENTLEMEN DO NOT NEED RULES

MUSIEKFEES

clock September 1, 2009 11:58 by author Johan Volsteedt

The annual GREY MUSIC FESTIVAL was a very professional show hosted in the Sand du Plessis Theatre. It drew capacity crowds and highlighted the musical talents of the Grey boys.

We appreciate the contribution made by our sponsors, FNB, BLOEM WATER and the ARTS TRUST!

Congratulations to our soccer teams who enjoyed two very successful tours.

We look forward to the MOTHER & SON BREAKFAST and to the summer activities.

THIRD TERM IN FULL SWING!

clock August 16, 2009 16:57 by author Johan Volsteedt

Just after the holidays Grey with the support of FNB hosted a very successful soccer tournament. The soccer teams have also played exciting soccer against local teams and Glenwood BH from Durban. In the coming week the First X1 travel to Durban for the Kloof tournament - we wish them well!

The inter schools against Grey High and Glenwood provided some fantastic encounters on the sports fields and in debating. The 1st hockey team drew to Grey High and beat Glenwood, while the 1st rugby team beat Grey PE 16-0 and Glenwood 62-3. The sportsmanship and camaraderie displayed during these inter schools is an education in itself!

We also welcome Ross Swanson, a student from Oxford University, who will spend 3 weeks with us!

OM OOR OPGEWONDE TE RAAK...

clock June 18, 2009 16:27 by author Johan Volsteedt

In ons land is daar inderdaad probleme, net soos in elke ander land.

Perhaps the greatest current sporting event in the country is the Confederation Cup soccer taking place in 4 stadia around the country. Anybody who has attended any of the matches will agree that it is a magnificent event. The security and other arrangements are excellent, the stadiums in fantastic condition and the crowds are well-behaved, friendly, energetic and full of fun. It indeed augurs well for the 2010 World Cup which will be a huge success and will benefit our country and all its people!

Enjoy the holidays
