The much needed rain in our area caused havoc with our sporting fixtures, particularly the cricket.

This weekend sees our squash team in action at PARKTOWN Boys High, 3 cricket teams a Selborne in East London, Water polo at Pretoria Boys High, tennis at Kearsney College and a wonderful chess tournament where we host 60 teams from all over SA. The Inter High gala also takes place this weekend.

Ons sokkerspan berei voor vir n toer na Belgie, Frankryk en Holland terwyl die hokkie- en rugbyproewe in volle swang is en ons musiekdepartement ook hard aan die werk is. Grey se atlete het goed gevaar tydens die Affies byeenkoms en Sentraal se Top 20 byeenkoms. Hulle sien uit na die SVS kampioenskap en die Inter High in Sasol.

Ons het vandag gelukwense van die Onderwysdepartement ontvang omdat ons matriekuitslae die beste kwaliteit in die provinsie getoon het en ons die prys ontvang het vir die beste Skeinat/Wiskunde uitslae - voorwaar n kompliment vir die skoo, personeel en seuns!

Volgende naweek kom die voorsitters van al die Reunie-takke by Grey bymekaar en sien ons uit na hul volgehoue ondersteuning.

Thanks to ITEC we now have an automatic screen and data projector in the Reunie  Hall and we enjoy the new possibilities this opens up to the school.

Na aanleiding van soveel positiewe terugvoer van buitestaanders oor die Greyseuns se gedrag en optrede, ook tydens besoeke aan ander skole, besef mens wat n groot voorreg dit is om aan Grey verbonde te wees.

But this privilege also carries responsibility and therefore the Leith House motto must be preserved and lived by all of us: VOORREG/PRIVILEGE

Geluk aan ons swemmers wat tweede gekom het tydens die Westville Aflosgala en die seunsafdeling tydens die Midmarmyl gewen het. DIe eerste krieketspan het met 4 paaltjies teen Hilton College verloor.

The test week is in full swing and we trust that our boys will, as ever, manage to deal with the very full programmes that confronts them every day!

Valentine's Day will be celebrated at assembly on Friday and we look forward to the visit of the girls from our sister schools. Grey will, weather permitting, be hosting Pretoria Boys High cricket teams while 4 of our teams will also be travelling to Pretoria.

Met die skoolrol op 1195 is dit die grootste groep seuns in Grey se geskiedenis. Dit bring ongelukkig ook groot uitdagings mee, soos die saal wat te klein word en klasse wat uit hul nate bars.

The new boys have settled in well and the gala and athletics meeting were very successful. The cricket, water polo and  table tennis players have all been involved in excellent tournaments and this weekend our cricketers travel to Hilton while our swimmers go the Westville Relay Gala and the Midmar Mile. Our athletes travel to Affies and the annual Grey/Discovery cycle race takes place at school on Saturday.

Die nuwe sekuriteitskameras het reeds n positiewe impak en sal die dissipline verbeter.

We are very proud of our matric results of 2008 and the fact that we received the trophy for the best Maths/Science results in the Free State.

In 2009 we want to further develop the Grey tribe. In his book, TRIBES, Seth Godin, says: "Tribes are not about stuff. They're about connection. Grow a tribe of committed, talented people who are spreading a message of empowerment, respect and growth. And as the organization matures and touches more people, those connections lead to more connections. The tribe thrives; it delivers value and it spreads. THE BETTER YOU DO, THE BETTER YOU DO. For a tribe, average means mediocrity."  Grey must not be about numbers, but about fans.
